🤫 My Secret to Achieving Big Goals ⋆ 🤖 AI Updates Of The Week ⋆ 🤔 Following your own curiosity

It consists of 3 crucial elements in a 4 step process. You'd be surprised how much you're capable of when you compound your efforts. A bunch happened with AI.

🤫 My Secret to Achieving Big Goals ⋆ 🤖 AI Updates Of The Week ⋆ 🤔 Following your own curiosity

Thing 1 - My Secret to Achieving Big Goals

GO WATCH! Here it is in the video form (6:09 min) 😉

It leverages these 3 things:

Growth mindset

A Yoda-level belief that Rome wasn't built overnight. It was built by a young padawan sweating every day in the forests of Dagobah.

(for non-geeks: this means regular, repeatable steps that compound)

Metacognition

Take a 3rd-person view of what you do. Observe how you work and understand information.
Tweak it to optimize your character in this game of life to level up faster in areas you care about.

Self-authorship

Don't follow the game's default storyline. Instead, look for things that turn on your soul's light bulb. Pursue them like your hair's on fire and they are the only bucket of water around.
Do it on a daily basis.

By taking you through these 4 steps:

Pact

What are simple and repeatable things you can do to get closer to your goal?
Commit to them. To yourself. To your friends. To someone who will haunt you in your sleep if you don't stick to it.

BAD: "I will learn how to code"
GREAT: "I will code every day for a hundred days"

BAD: "I will run a marathon"
GOOD: "I will run 3 times a week"

Act

Do the deed. Don't chicken out.

React

Take that 3rd-person view again.
Did you feel productive? Was anything in particular hard to learn? How’s your mood?
Shoot a quick message to those that haunt you. It's a great way to store your thought process and reflect on your experience.

Bonus: Tell it to the world! It feels like throwing oil on the fire of your insecurity BUT it will make you mindful of your productivity.

Impact

You've been doing the thing, improved with each iteration, and no one came to haunt you in your dreams. Success!

Now you're ready to step out of your comfort zone.
It may feel like it's early morning and you wanna yell "5 more minutes, mom!", but you're ready to pop.

"Build your first app."
"Sign up for a 10k race."

Best thing -  how flexible it is.

The "React" phase can change everything.

Thing 2 - AI Updates Of The Week

Too many things to cover in depth in 3 minutes, but I can't just leave you in the dark. So here's a handful to pick from to dive in.

  • Oslo-based startup 1X Technologies got a bunch of money ($23.5 M) to produce a humanoid robot NEO and expand the production of their robot EVE. (source)
  • ChatGPT plugins are starting to roll out. They'll let you connect ChatGPT to various services, fetch data from the Internet and make actions (it asks you to confirm before so you're in control).
  • Google's Bard was trained on data from ChatGPT (among other sources). That's weird but also maybe not weird...
  • Microsoft is rolling out copilot in MS Word, and you don't have to wait for it if you're willing to dig through the Windows registry a bit.
  • You can hire models that don't exist in a virtual photo studio.
  • Canva - the design website - added AI-powered design features. Here's a great summary.
  • AnthropicAI added Claude to Slack to give a "virtual teammate" to every company.
  • Sundar Pichai (Google's CEO) promised Bard updates saying they have better models.

And that's not even all...

Thing 3 - Following your own curiosity

The cure for boredom is curiosity.
There is no cure for curiosity.

- Dorthy Parker

Following your own curiosity is like a red pill for life. There may be no cure for curiosity, but is it because it's the final state of flow you're supposed to reach?

And following it is how you find your life's purpose?
