💸 So about that bank collapse in US... ⋆ 📻 AI Radio ⋆ 🎮 Life is a single-player game

In addition to SVB situation breakdown, discover how AI is revolutionizing radio and might replace human hosts. And for some food for thought, consider Naval's perspective on life as a single-player game...

💸 So about that bank collapse in US... ⋆ 📻 AI Radio ⋆ 🎮 Life is a single-player game

Will GPT-4 be announced in the coming week? We'll find out.

Some of my AI predictions are starting to shape up. And a new video on AI coming up sometime between this and the next 3-in-3. 🤫

Thing 1 - Quick breakdown of the SVB situation

This is for all you CEOs and CFOs reading 3-in-3.

2nd biggest bank collapse in the USA's history happened this week!

Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) was

  • the 16th largest bank in the US and
  • the largest bank by deposits in Silicon Valley

until this Friday!

What happened?

  • In 2019 SVB had $60B in deposits.
  • Investors started throwing money left and right at startups.
    Startups put it in SVB.
  • Ding-dong 2022 comes, SVB has $190B in deposits
  • They bought $80B of mortgage-backed securities
(which were at the heart of the 2008 financial crisis)
  • Mortgage rates went from 0% to 4-5%

Enter this week.

  • SVB said they'll sell a bit of those and raise some cash
  • Founders went "Hey, our bank needs money?"
and started taking their money out
  • Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) took over SVB
  • Everyone's thinking "Err, ok, how is my bank covering deposits?"

Monday's going to be interesting. Video breakdown by Toby Howell (2 min).

If you're in this boat, Odin compiled some SVB Resources that might help you out.

Thing 2 - Would you listen to AI radio?

I don't know, is it good?

Here's a thing Futuri does:

Their TopicPulse scans Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and 250k+ other sources of news and information, to identify which topics are trending in a local market.

Then they feed that into GPT-3 based RadioGPT to create a script to use on-air. AI voices turn that script into compelling audio.

They can even do hosted radio shows with up to 3 hosts!

I'm listening to it as I'm typing and - combined with music and all - if it didn't keep telling me it was AI-generated, I wouldn't pick it up without trying.
The news sounds a bit like something you'd hear in GTA games but considering it's pulling the data from Springfield local media, it makes sense. It even had some jokes I chuckled at.

Are radio hosts getting replaced by AI next?

Your favorite radio personalities could even be replaced by AI while they are on vacation in the interim - and you might not even notice.

Thing 3 - Life is a single-player game

It takes consistent effort to not get dragged into other people's games and get distracted by all the side-quests.

Here's Naval:

Life is a single-player game.

Society is a multi-user organism. So it will train us for the multi-user game. Only the individual can stumble upon the single-player game, and that frame of mind, and see where it takes them.

I think it's liberating that there's no meaning to life. You can create your own meaning. I would argue the meanings that are the best to create and work on are the ones that self-actualize you against your natural talents. The thing you enjoy doing, that puts you in flow, that has some worthwhile benefit to yourself or to society.

If you had no adversity, it would be a really boring game.

Play the game. It's your game. You get to design the board. You get to design the challenge. You get to design the victory condition. And that's a lot of the creativity.

- Naval Ravikant

It's a lot of responsibility too. But it's a game, and you're meant to play.
